Chicago Notes on Fire Recovery and City Affairs

Police have recovered about four hundred thousand dollars worth of stolen property since the fire. Interest grows in locating the new Chicago and Northwestern Railroad depot. The Chicago Historical Society lost a pamphlet collection valued at around one hundred fifty thousand, many relating to early Northwest settlements. McVicker plans two large stores on his theater site and will pause his theater business. A Chicago citizens meeting at Martine's Hall discussed public matters in the emergency. A G Throop chaired, Richard Edwards secretary, with speeches from leading residents. The remaining unburned city areas now have ample water supply. Rush Medical College cost seventy thousand dollars.

Courageous minister confronts burglar in Waterford study
