Iowa Republican State Convention 1866 Nominates Officers

The Iowa Republican State Convention met on June 20 1866 at Count Hagens ie Moe Bet 0. Joshua Tracy presided and Rev Hayhurst gave the invocation. Col Ed Wright was nominated for Secretary of State by acclamation and party resolutions urged loyalty equal protection and reconstruction by loyal states. The body elected a State Central Committee and appointed a slate of nominees for state offices with Stiles and Rankin among the judges and treasurer nominees. Turbulent winds and curious queries from a small town

The Dallas Gazette reports a severe wind storm moving through a Dallas County port and Carroll County near Carrollton, tearing houses apart but causing no deaths.
