Lt Te JOLY Soth 1868 Republican slate for governor and court posts appears in this fragment. Includes N. J. Rubch Des Moines County as a chief justice candidate, with L. Stockton Des Moines and Baldwin Pottawattamie named among associate officers.
A brief critique notes the County Judge reports tax changes since 1828, arguing the road tax paid into the county treasury should be counted separately. It claims the last year’s road tax would alter the comparison by $10,466.71 if included, and accuses the Democrat of blindness while praising readers for honest credit to statements.
The Cedar Democrat claims our reply to its questions will be woolly and notes a dispute over personalities with Father Wate. We deny attacking individuals, pledge to avoid personal matters, and state public discourse should not hinge on editors’ private views or religious or drink preferences.

Window. Also includes a political column from the Dubuque Herald and excerpts attacking Cass doctrine and a violent murder near Rock Island county Illinois involving J W Ballard.
An 19th century style advertisement extols Costar’s Rat and Roach Exterminator and Bedbugs Exterminator with testimonials from druggists and clerks. It claims complete vermin destruction, notes wholesale agents across states, and urges ordering by mail using box prices and samples.
The State of Iowa to Lewis Doyle a non resident is notified that a petition by J Warren Clark claims you owe eighty one dollars and forty one cents on a promissory note from 1857. An attachment covers the southeast quarter of section 19 in Cedar County. You must appear and answer by October term 1859 or a judgment will be read against you. Dated July 1, 1859.
