Gallant Fight in Home Guard Stand Off
The Louisville Journal recounts Capt. Sam Tabour and his sixteen year old nephew John defending Captain Tabour’s house against Captain Pratt and five guerrillas. They refused surrender and fought for their lives, with Tabour and his nephew killing several attackers before Pratt was shot. The remaining band fled, then halted nearby as gunfire continued.

Desperate Outlaw Pratt Defeated in Gallant Skirmish
Capt. Tabour reported to Col. Fasleigh after a sharp clash that killed three, wounded one, and captured a prisoner. The victory yielded three dead, one wounded, three live horses, a dead horse, three Enfield rifles, a carbine, and four saddles. Pratt and his gang were notorious for bloodthirstiness and daring.
