Clarence Iowa a growing railroad town with thriving trade

Clarence on the C N W railroad eight miles beyond London north of Shipton grows rapidly as Tipton’s trade shifts east. Population around seven hundred, diverse shops, chiefs including Recht Reed & Co E R Simmons & W B Hanna J Stone & Sons and Dennett & Thompson. Schools, churches, a new school building planned, a mayor James De Wolf, sidewalks, lots rising in value, freight and wheat shipments ongoing, a future bank and hotel urged.

Great Natural Curiosity of Iowa Walled Lakes
