Tinley Park Board Funds 15 Tot Lots in Village Plan

The Tinley Park village board approved a $7,000 initial allocation for three tot lots with $3,000 per site to follow, part of a five year plan to build 15 tot lots including two in older town areas. The district also addresses Sundale park taxes and seeks excess land near School District 146 for recreation. A bond referendum for Vogt Woods and park facilities is set for April 3 with polling at the village hall.

Village Bids For Adequate Entry To 159th Street

Brementowne resident Bob Barchler urged the village board to expedite action as the 159th street route 6 closure for construction prompts calls for adequate ingress and egress to 76th and 80th avenues and a bypass to improve regional traffic flow serving the west Harlem area.

Hospital Employees Testify at Tinley Park Hearing

A Monday hearing in Chicago featured 11 Local 679 Service Employees' International Union members testifying to the Illinois Commission on Mental Health and Retardation about conditions at Tinley Park Mental Health center. Testimony covered rapid patient discharges and safety concerns. officials noted no major felonies were identified, with more public hearings planned. Trustee Patrick Rea planned Springfield visit to seek action to keep traffic lanes open during road work near Tinley Park.
