Tinley Park police said no charges will be filed against a patient at the Tinley Park mental health center in an alleged rape and battery case at the hospital Saturday. The center is under Cook county state’s attorney investigation for hospital mismanagement after conflicting reports from staff and guards.
Tinley Park trustees approved purchasing four new squad cars from Olympia Dodge in Chicago Heights for 7 277.12 after trading in four old cars. A Ford F-350 one ton dump truck was awarded to Cooper Show Ford of Frankfort and a Dodge B-200 van to Schuster Equipment of Chicago for water department use. Police demonstrated state supplied breathalyzer and officers qualified to operate it.
Hospitals urge local residents to donate new items for adults 18 to 60 at Tinley Park Mental Center and Oak Forest Hospital. Gifts can be dropped off at the circular building or addresses in Tinley Park and Oak Forest. Wrapping and identifying cards aid distribution. items include clothing, games, books, decor, and basic supplies beyond budgeted needs.

The Westhaven village board clashed over police matters after approving two officers and starting patrols in late November. Mayor Curtis Whitaker pressed for original job applications. Trustee Daniel DiSabato said copies and résumés were sent to the village clerk and urged written guidance from the attorney.
Representatives presented drawings for a Westhaven Planned Unit Development bounded by 159th and Haven Avenue with 13 acres for a local shopping center and 66 acres for 1128 apartments. The plan includes open space, pools, courts, and a community building plus groundbreaking lease terms and phased donations totaling 55000, with rent estimates of 190 to 240 dollars for nine unit types and concerns from School District 135 about a two year tax roll lag. Mayor Whitaker warned of potential loss of fire protection and required funding for districts.
