District 230 teachers ratify three year pay deal

Teachers in High School District 230 voted 9 to 1 to approve a three year contract with about a 5.6 percent raise and no cost of living clause. The board unanimously accepted the package ending three months of talks and avoiding a strike. a new Academic Standards committee will handle materials disputes and students failing a subject will not be reassigned to the same teacher next semester unless unavoidable.

Village announces annual Fall Festival to run Labor Day weekend with a twilight parade an 18 ride carnival and dunking booth. Officials forecast 75000 to 100000 attendees at Vogt Woods August 31 to September 4. Merchants may display and sell wares in exhibition tent for first time.
