State troopers reported two accidents in Carroll County last week with minor injuries. On Sept 13 Raymond Eisfeller Chadwick and Dean Brinkmeier Stockton collided after Eisfeller passed Brinkmeier. Eisfeller’s car left the road and hit Brinkmeier’s vehicle. Eisfeller cited for improper passing. On Sept 14 Edward Kloepping Carroll was rear ended by Kenneth Guenzler Lanark near Rt 64 construction. both cars damaged heavily.

Carroll county residents purchased 142,869 dollars in series E and H United States savings bonds in August. The report was supplied by F. E. Weidman of Mt. Carroll, general county chairman of the Savings Bonds Committee.
Soil Conservation District Accepts 12 New Cooperators
Twelve cooperators were accepted by the Carroll County Soil Conservation District Board at a recent meeting. Five are new cooperators starting conservation on their farms, seven have basic conservation plans. Plans cover diversions terraces contour strip cropping pasture renovation drainage gully control structures grass waterways and wildlife area improvement. Plans were prepared with help from US Soil Conservation Service technicians Will Fisher and Julius Johnson. Farmers receive soils and capability maps to guide planning. The district office is in the Farm Bureau building Mt Carroll phone 4611.

Bert A. Nelson 75 of Morrison died on September 13 after a month in Morrison hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Fair Haven E U B church with Rev. Albert Cober officiating and burial in Fair Haven cemetery. He was born August 5, 1886 in Fair Haven and married Josie Kneale in Clinton, Iowa. He and his wife farmed the Argo Fa and Franklin Corners areas until 1947, then moved to Malvern. Surviving are his widow, two daughters Marjorie Gowan and Marilyn Meyer, two sons Francis and Delbert, ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, two sisters N V Randecker and Mrs. Sam Nicolas, and his parents precede him.
