Babson Sees Dow Averages Diminish in Coming Years
Babson argues that the Dow Jones Industrial Averages have risen and fallen since 1920s highs, but now hover around 181 as he predicts less attention to averages. He foresees a selective future market where investment counsellors shift funds to firms with dispersed assets, minimal labor needs, and resistance to inflation, favoring regional merchandisers over coastal department stores.
