Car Driver Hits Horse Near Savanna
A car driven by J. W. Brick of Clinton, Iowa, struck and killed a horse on Route 80 about three miles south of Savanna at two o'clock Sunday morning. Brick was uninjured but his car sustained some damage. he cited heavy fog that reduced visibility.

John H. Byers longtime congressional secretary to Leo E. Allen and former Illinois representative died in Washington after a hospital stay since April 19 following a hit and run incident. Born January 28 1872 in Lancaster Pennsylvania Byers taught school worked in newspapers and served in the Illinois House for three years. Damages Sought After Barroom Incident In Savanna

A contract to construct ten four unit apartment blocks along state highway 80 near the Ord nance depot road north of Savanna has been awarded to Ray Aulmonck and Son of Freeport. Work starts about Oct 1 with occupancy about six weeks later. A filling station with grocery and restaurant will be built at the junction, run by Harold Rogers. Hurt in Crash Near Darien Wisconsin Involving Clinton and Savanna Residents
Miss Ruth Hindley of Clinton Iowa and Mrs. Allen Eaton of Savanna sustained minor injuries when their car, returning from a Wisconsin trip with Mr. Eaton, was sideswiped about two miles south of Darien. Hindley received back injuries and cuts, Eaton was unhurt, and Mrs. Eaton had no serious injuries. the vehicle was badly damaged on the left side but did not overturn.

Four Men Escape Serious Injury In Viaduct Crash
Four young construction workers from the Savannah Ordnance depot escaped major harm when their Plymouth coupe skidded Sunday into the steel railing at the Milwaukee viaduct north end in Savanna. Passersby took them to Savannah hospital. Yeknick suffered a nose laceration and Lewis facial cuts, with bruises to the body. Karacson and Doda had minor facial bruises and were discharged. Vehicle damage included torn front wheels and axle.
