Five Held for Grand Jury Meet On Larceny Charges

Five prisoners are held in the county jail at Mt. Carroll awaiting the November grand jury session. Henry Grove Lanark policeman is ordered held on two counts of statutory rape with bonds of 10,000 each. Donald Clark and De Blair of Lanark heard Friday on larceny charges with bonds 500 each. Accomplices are charged with stealing auto accessories from Rev. I. O Leatherman and Ralph Burkholder. items stolen include fog lights, bumper guard, hot water heater and twin burners. Two Savanna men, William Quinn and Ben Baird, are held on theft of lumber and other commodities from basements. bonds 500 each. Two more Lanark youths also held awaiting grand jury action.

Release Farm Institute Two Day Program

Carroll County Farmers Institute sets Oct 20 and 21 in Milledgeville with exhibits for men and women in the John Brand building and Milledgeville library. Joint morning sessions, afternoon programs, and evening talks at the high school auditorium are planned, with 25 cent lunches at Lutheran church parlors and a full agenda including addresses by Walter Marquardt and Lester Pfister, plus musical acts and a Play by Paynter school.

County Ministerial Group Meets Monday at Frances Shimer

The Gayo County Ministers met Monday at Frances Shimer. The program included a panel on making churches missionary minded with talks by Tes, Rf, Synwall, Savana, and Rehaos. Roy G. Savanna Couple Wed in M E Church Saturday

Miss Virginia Casselberry daughter of Mr and Mrs Harvey Casselberry and Henry Tininger Jr son of Mr and Mrs Weniy Truninger of Ravannah were married at four o clock Saturday afternoon at the Savanna M E church. Rev Royal Synwalt read the ceremony. Attendants were Miss Marjorie Moore and Norwood Casselberry. After the ceremony Mrs Raymond Phillips played neptial music and Mendelssohn wedding march. The couple left for Chicago and other points and will reside in Rock Island.

Supplemental Grand Jurors Named by Board for November

Federal investigators rumoured to visit Carroll County

Rumors swirl across papers about the kidnaping of Charles and Ross Reis, a retired Chicago manufacturer. Francis Brennan of Savanna and Harry Blackburn of Lanark named as co chairs of Carroll County arrangements for the statewide Democratic Rally to be held October 21 at the State fair grounds Springfield. State school funds received for distribution reported

L E Brodil, county superintendent of schools, reports the county’s share of the state distributive fund for the past month totaling 2850.61 dollars. Apportionment to the townships will likely be completed this week and warrants sent to township treasurers.
