Literary Program Proves Well Attended and School Notices
Last Friday night’s Purple and Gold Literary Program drew a strong crowd though shorter than expected. The next Literary Society event is planned for Friday night October 29. Committee members are Miss Butcher Gladys Dittmar and Phillip Switzer. Six week tests begin Thursday and Friday with one hour per subject. Biology class cost a few cents recently. An onion was the CelLse. In English IV class Phillip notes owning Bryant’s works at home Charlice cautions not to bring them to school. Seating changes in the assembly move the boys’ cloak room to a classroom used by English IV American History and Domestic Science. Boy Scouts See Football Game at Illinois Opening
Six Scouts from Thomson Troop No 1 led by Scoutmasses Sehaich attended the University of Illinois football season opener by auto. They toured the new Memorial Stadium, the Armory, and other sights while a 150 piece band played. Overnight, about 200 Scouts slept in the Armory with supervision by Scout Executive Drake. About 2000 Scouts attended due to rain and floods. Thomson contingent included Lauren Hollinshead Russell Gleason Paul Hawk Charles Beck Stacey Potter and Walter Switzer.
