Mr and Mrs Robert Carson learn their son Capt Russell Carson returning from Palestine is delayed by illness. He has served since August 1 with a United Nations group in Palestine and was hospitalized in Greece while en route to the United States.
Buckwalter daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Buckwalter married Har ry A Adams son of Elver Adams Sunday at the Methodist church. Rev J J Burrows officiated a double ring service with attendants Glenn Guisss and bridegroom. The couple will reside in Carroll where both are employed.
A special petit jury panel was drawn to report on November 30 in Carroll County Court for the trial of Colby D. Loechel of Chadwick on manslaughter charges. Chadwick and Thomson 4-H and FFA youths selected beef calves at Mackay farm north of Chadwick on Saturday November 20. Donald Mackay aided members in obtaining Hereford feeder calves and the group will feed, fit and show the calves next fall while recording feed costs and gain efficiency.

Mr. Carroll Farm Adviser M. P. Roske of Carroll County received a diamond lapel pin for 25 years in agriculture service at the JAA convention last week. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hook visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hook at Erie.
Delegates from communities including Carroll, York, Salem and Savanna meet to elect a county committee for administering agricultural conservation programs, loans and purchase agreements for the coming year. The group to convene November 26 at the Triple-A office to establish the county plan and reduce programs.
Funeral services for W W Hartman 77 former Mt Carroll clothing store operator and longtime mayor were held at the Frank Funeral Chapel with burial at Oak Hill. Hartman died after a paralytic stroke at home the morning of November 17. He was born February 28 1871 in Fair Haven Township married Alyria Curley in 1911. Also noted is the death of Milledgeville resident Mil l edgeville Mrs S Glenn Peugh 54 with services at Milledgeville Brethren Church and burial at Bethel cemetery. Surviving family includes a husband two sons a granddaughter one sister and two brothers. The obituaries reference local towns Mt Carroll Coleta Cooperstown and Rock Falls and list several relatives.

Other noted outcomes include North Carolina 20 over Duke 0, Georgia Tech 64 over The Citadel, Rice 21 over Texas Christian 7, California 7 versus Stanford, and South Carolina 20 at UCLA 13.
Shannon Eagles coach Dan Fullmer led two wins last week as Shannon beat Lena 30 25 and 47 6 and then defeated Forreston 26 17 and 47 27. Rodermel led Lena with 12 while Picking topped Shannon with 16 in the Forreston win. Mt Carroll fell 49 27 as Chadwick with Lyle Bickert 13 paced a 53 6 quarter start.
The Elizabeth five defeated Hillsdale 38 to 25 as Tom on-Coach Munson’s squad used a strong third quarter to pull away. Young led the Trojans with 14 points, while Temple scored 8 for Hillsdale. The game followed a 31-29 setback for the Elizabeth team in a prior pairing.
Mt Carroll unit holds meetings to nominate Farm Bureau and Carroll Service Company directors. Events run December 6 at Farm Bureau hall for Woodland Salem Freedom and Mt Carroll townships. December 8 Chadwick for Far Haven and York townships. December 9 Milledgeville for Wysox and Elkhorn Grove. December 18 Savanna for Savanna and Washington townships.
Sabula trounces Chadwick 58 to 26 as Friederich and Queckboerner foul out late. Chadwick's Queckboerner leads with 17 points while Haley adds 24 for Sabula. Next game set for Nov 30 with Lane Uik.
