Visiting Nurse Question At PTA Meeting

The Parent-Teacher Association will discuss hiring a visiting nurse at their December meeting. A committee led by James J Sheridan and including Mrs Chesnutt and Mrs Bennet will report on costs and feasibility. All who can attend are urged to participate and help decide if a nurse can visit occasionally.

Home Economic Club Meeting at Church

The Home Economic Club holds its monthly meeting on Friday November 19 at the church with hostesses Mesdames Louisa Mace Nettie Sack Anna George and Rose Foltz. The program includes songs prayers papers and readings such as Land of our Birth our Faith our Pride and The First Thanksgiving. The event features Hortense Nipe Edna Cooper Rachel Blair Yada Carroll and Mrs Della Williams with music and a solo performance of The Star Spangled Banner.

Argo Fa Community Grieves Two Deaths

The Argo-Fa community mourns Mildred Dearborn and Mrs Alice Carpenter deaths. Dearborn died after an emergency appendicitis operation. her family includes Elbert Dearborn and siblings. Services were held at Argo Church with Rev Williams and Rev Scherer officiating. Carpenter's funeral at Argo Church included floral tributes and burial in Argo Cemetery with Rev J K Hawkins presiding.

Memorial for Amanda Morey of Clinton and Argo

George Ishmaiing and Wilbur Williams report Reverend Hawkins led services for Amanda Alice Morey, born July 12 1848 in Chester Warren County New York and died November 21 1926 at her Clinton home. She married July 20 1867 and had two children, a daughter who died in infancy and a son George who served in the Spanish American War. Mrs Carpenter moved to Carroll County at 16, taught near Argo, joined Eastern Stars and Woman's Relief Corps, and transferred church membership to Clinton First Methodist in 1922. After her husband died in 1891 she lived with her son-in-law Charles Lamb and cared for by family and friends. She leaves a sister Mrs D G Dunn of Glen Falls, a daughter-in-law Mrs George W Carpenter and two grandchildren in Terre Haute, Indiana, five stepchildren including Mrs Madge Lamb Bowers and her four children. Her last wish was burial in Argo, Florida. A host of friends mourn her Christian life and faithful service.

Farmers Institute Thomson December 7th Event Update

The Carroll County Farmers Institute moves Thomson sessions to December 7 with afternoon and evening meetings. Mrs Fulton addresses women, Mr Sveham speaks to men, and a joint Thomson session ends the day. Substituted venues Lanark Milledgeville and Thursday events. Roy Atherton opens a barber shop. Y C H S Opens Season with Mt Carroll Victory

Thomson High School defeats Mt Carroll in the first game of the season on home floor. Key players include Smith Switzer for Thomson and Campbell Watson for Mt Carroll with a fast, balanced effort from all. Referee McCarthy and timekeeper Bolhous officiated as the teams showcased strong early-season form.

Argo Fa News Items Reflect Funeral, Visits and Sales

Ed Franks and wife attended the funeral of his cousin at Hillsdale on Monday. Miles Slifer and family attended the funeral of her mother near Mt Carroll on Friday. Mrs Mary Janiga of Minneapolis, now living in St Paul, visited here Friday. Leota Carroll of Dixon and Hallie Kenyon of Sterling spent Sunday at home. A pastry sale raised funds for a church repair debt and the Ladies Aid Bazaar will be held December 3 with a supper and sale of fancy and useful articles at 8 o'clock. Floyd Kness and wife of Morrison spent Sunday with his parents.
