Father and Son Banquet Well Attended at Methodist Church

About 50 men and boys attended the second annual Father and Son banquet at the Methodist church last Friday evening. Rev. E. P. Sehaich, Prof. Orrie Frederick, J. L Brearton, and Geo. W. Wolf of Savanna spoke, with Rev. Williams as toastmaster. Music by the high school orchestra included a whistling solo by Len Carpenter and a duet by Rev. and Mrs. Williams. Prizes awarded for youngest and oldest father with son, father with most sons, and father most resembling him. Clarence McGinty spent the weekend in Chicago and Oak Park at the Norm Lewis home, returning Monday evening.

Chicago YMCA Glee Club To Be Here On Dec 22

The Chicago YMCA college glee club, 20 to 24 singers, will perform at the Thomson opera house on Monday night December 22 under the Methodist church auspices. Director George W. Campbell is a friend of Rev. Clark Williams who helped arrange the pre Christmas tour. The group travels by chartered motor bus, leaves Chicago December 16, stops at Rock Island December 22, and also plans a Savanna Rotary Club luncheon and a matinee at S.T.H.S. auditorium for Thomson high pupils, with overnight lodging and parish hospitality planned locally.

Red Hot Show At The Orpheum In Thomson

Mr. Monroe of the Orpheum Theatre Thomson calls the winter program one of the best at the popular house. The unusual show opens this Sunday and features red headed performers a five piece jazz band a male quartet and other road show elements. Tickets go on sale first in Thomson due to limited capacity with nearby towns selling afterward.

Sometime ago Hank Johnson was honored as our largest subscriber and Rush Carroll protested by naming his sisters Mrs. Dee Carroll of Bradley Wisconsin and Mrs. Nola Alexander of Ovid Colorado and his brother Ethan of Ovid. If they quarrel we will write to Alve to settle it.
