An 18-year-old evangelist preacher will lead a seaside series of services at Woodbine. The organizer, Ray Harvey, will host gatherings each Sunday through next week, with local congregations supporting the evangelical outreach amid community interest.
A one year old Lanark boy, Wolf, died after a car overturned on Route 52 near Mt Cato. The vehicle skidded in rain, pinning Wolf under the radiator. Injured were Oscar Smith, Lila Smith, and Robert Dittsworth. An inquest held found no lethal fault. funeral services were held at the family home with burial in Lanark Cemetery. Surviving are his parents Lloyd and Mrs Smith and two sisters.
Additional US engineers from the land acquisition department join crews from Clinton Savannah and Belleville to map timber clearing up to pool No 12. The work aims to finish the topography survey quickly, though it may not complete before winter, with landowners receiving appraisal and compensation if their property is taken.
Dr R T Boysen of Chicago has assumed the practice of the late Dr F Brotman in Savanna. Mrs Brotman and Dr Brotman left Sunday for Chicago then Chicago to Chiaro. Brotman previously served at the eco camp in Mt Carroll, moving to Livonia to take over the late Dr W W McGrath’s practice.
The last member of the Savanna G. A. R. died Saturday after a long residency in the area. Funeral rites were held with interment at Savanna Cemetery. Survivors include a son Teva Albright and a niece Aymerican Fa. County Clerk Morrison and other local officials issued notices surrounding the service. The passing marks the end of an era for the Savanna post.

A man naming himself Johnson and residing in Sterling told Savanna police Monday that three men robbed him of his Plymouth car money and overcoat. He said the trio forced him from the wheel at Route 30 near Fulton drove him around for hours and released him near Savanna after taking cash and coat. He went to Savanna police and then returned to Stexhee.
The Mt Carroll Mirror Democrats announce a return to a weekly schedule starting after Thanksgiving. The county seat paper began weekly publication as an experiment in June 1936. The decision cites insufficient rain in advertising on the semi weekly run and rising publishing costs as reasons to discontinue twice weekly issues.

Six men escaped serious harm when two cars collided on Route 80 south of Thomson at the junction with sod headings to the dam. Ralph Tarvin of Clinton was rushed to Mercy Hospital Clinton with severe internal injuries. Others injured include Kenneth Waite, A Wheeldom, L Baker and F Brown who were en route to work at the dam. Fred DeWeerdt of Fulton, driver of the second car, was injured. DeWeerdt's Buick struck a Chevrolet coach headed north turning left, tearing open the right front of the Chevrolet and ripping away the door and wheel well.
Ray Hanson of Minnesota captured the national corn husking title with 2130 bushels amid driving rain and mud. Kansan Cecil Y. Vinnie took second with 1764, while Layton Roberts of Missouri was third with 1770. Illinois entrants faltered as weather worsened, and numerous state competitors posted lower yields.
Two automobile accidents occurred on Highway 52 near Mt Carroll Friday night. Ed Blehmger of Fireport escaped injury when his car overturned with slight damage. A cow owned by Vernon Weidman was hit by a truck and killed due to injuries. The truck driver was uninjured but the truck’s front end was damaged.
About thirty five members of the Carrell County Ministers Association gathered Monday at Frances Shimer Juni in college for the November meeting. After luncheon and surveying the buildings, Father Whitney president gave the welcome address, Rev GT Nesmith offered prayer, and Dr Welch president of the University of Dubuque was presented as the speaker.
