Union and Area Industries Negotiate New Pension Plan
Byron Edwards announced negotiations completed for a company paid pension program covering three local plants Valves and Controls Hanover Valves and Controls Savanna and Control- O-Temp Lanark. Beginning June 3 1968 employer contributions rise to 5 cents per hour by December 1 1971 with eligibility require 10 years pension credits and a monthly benefit formula tied to years of credits and weekly contributions. Vested benefits on termination at age 65 with 15 years credits. The plan is 100 percent employer funded and portable between contributing employers.

Camping Show Draws 3000 Visitors in May Weekend
More than 3,000 people attended the Northern Illinois Family Camping Show at the Lee County 4-H Center during the May 17 19 weekend. Rain limited Saturday crowds but Sunday sun boosted turnout. exhibitors from Dixon Fulton Sterling Rock Falls Princeton Sycamore and Rockford showcased camping gear. Thirty two camping families attended with Mr and Mrs Paul Warner of Lanark assisting. event sponsored by Extension Advisers of several counties and local camping enthusiasts. Dix Lee Roact Patrol staffed car parking as a community service.
