R D Carroll Dies Suddenly Monday Morning
R D Carroll, a well known York farmer, died suddenly from a stroke Monday May 24 1926 at his home on the York township farm near Argona aged 69. He leaves a wife Anna Gill and six children Ethan Rush John Nola Sharpe and Dee with eight grandchildren and a brother Frank. Funeral services were held at the Argo M E church with Rev Clark Williams and the Rev F Z Winebrenner. Interment followed in Argo cemetery.

Grade School Operetta Is Huge Success at Opera House

A. J. Riehl Mendota NL State Fire Marshal visited Thomson on Wednesday morning and reported he has settled the use of Cochran's hall for amusement. He advised a wooden five foot wide stairway with full landing be installed, noting a metal stair on a wooden building offers no more protection. His suggestion was approved at Springfield and he met with interested parties to revive Thomson's Dancing club.

Class of 1926 Hear Sermon at Baccalaureate
The York Community High School Class of 1926 held a baccalaureate service at the Tiethedist church with a packed edifice and a program of musical numbers. Rev. R L Hoover of Fulton delivered the sermon from Genesis. He urged students to value knowledge and live a life of service. The week included a Tuesday picnic in Davenport and upcoming commencement at the Christian church followed by an alumni banquet hosted by Epworth League on June 4.
