Knights of Pythias meet in Mt Carroll on Wednesday
A number of Knights of Pythias will travel to Mt Carroll tonight for the first county meeting. Four candidates will be present to take the third rank with Thomson taking three and Savanna one. Luncheon will follow the work and a large crowd is anticipated. Miss Grace Cook of Chicago visits the Wm Hawk home.

PTA Meeting Closes School Year at High School
The final Parent Teachers association meeting for the year gathered a large crowd at the high school auditorium last Thursday evening. Hon J L Brearton opened with a community singing led by the school orchestra, and Miss Gee gave a talk on profitable ways to spend vacations. Judsie Brearton discussed home and school cooperation, earning applause. Miss Elizabeth Martin presented a domestic science needlework display by her class, and a May-pole drill by primary pupils closed the program.

Health Promotion Week Urges Birth Registration Push
Illinois stresses accurate birth registration during Health Week to meet national standards. Local registrar is city clerk. parents provide name, birth place and date, parents’ details, and physician signature. Storm Hits Area Causing Trees Down and Flooded Roads
A Wednesday evening storm battered Argo-Fa with strong winds and heavy rain. Large trees near the Chas Lamb farm were blown down blocking roads, and near the Henry Stover residence, detours through pasture were needed. Creeks and culverts ran full to the banks, with water overflowing some roads. Despite the weather, Mt Carroll and the County meet were still attended. In Thomson, a sand storm accompanied a few rain drops.
