MIA notices reach families of three local airmen
The War Department reports that Pvt. Arthur Lott Jr and Sgt. Lloyd Eickert have been missing in Germany since March 10 and March 2 respectively. Lt. Richard Albers is also missing after his bomber was reported down. A hopeful note says the crew may have bailed out and escaped to Russian held territory if the ship went down intact. Earlier, Eickert’s B 17 narrowly escaped ice in the North Sea after engines failed in a raid. Community dinner guests were noted at Mt. Carroll.
