Mr and Mrs Blaine Leavens of Gifiesgo announce the birth of Pamela Sue a baby girl born March 22 at Washington Boulevard hospital Chicago. Mr and Mrs Wayne Williams of Argo welcome a 60 percent pound daughter born last Sunday at Savanna hospital.
York Township auditors met in regular session at Village Hall to audit funds and prepare a tentative budget for the coming year. They approved books for the road and bridge fund, township treasurer, overseer of the poor, and cemetery secretary-treasurer, and scheduled hearings for next Tuesday. The levy remains 15 cents per $100 for relief, 0.6 of 2 mills for library, plus salaries and contingencies. Eight grade plays raised 17 dollars for class expenses. No school Friday due to Teacher Institute at Mt Carroll.
Mr and Mrs Harvey Marshall and family and Mr and Mrs Lloyd Smith and family were entertained at the home of Mr and Mrs Roy Heitman Saturday evening. The gathering featured games and refreshments including homemade ice cream and cake. Robert Cate returned to studies at the University of Illinois on Monday.
Miss Joyce Lanning of Savanna and Gerald Hartman of Mount Carroll exchanged nuptial vows Easter Sunday at St. Pauls Episcopal Church Savanna with Rev H F Whitney officiating The bride wore white satin with Alencon lace and seed pearl tiara They will reside in Mount Carroll after April 15 Following a reception for 75 guests the couple left for a wedding trip.

Pastor Lester H. Clum announces an opening young people's service this Sunday evening at 7 50. Morning worship is at 9 30 and Evangelistic Service follows at 7 50. Prayer meeting Tuesday 7 30 Bible study Thursday evening all welcome.

Walter E. Schiel pastor announces changes in Sunday School and Morning Service hours. The week sees encouraging attendance in morning and Sunday evening services with notable male participation. Manual training meets Saturday at 10 a.m., Boy Scouts gather at 7 30 p.m.
Rev. J. A. Foard led Sunday School at 1 30 a m with a large attendance Sunday morning worship featured an Easter sermon. Special music came from a ladies chorus and a quartet. The ladies aid society met on Wednesday and a comforter was tied and knitting provided. Further work was done this week.
The Ideal church lists a 9:30 a m Sunday mass and Sunday school at 10 am. A 7 pm Young People's meeting precedes the 7:30 pm evening service led by Rev Sword. Lillian Hartman leads the Young People’s group. special music includes a quartet and several duets and solos by Corzine Reiff Hartman Stoner and Mrs Corzine. You are always welcome at Ideal.

Gilbert Marcucei narrowly escaped serious injuries last Friday afternoon while riding home from Clinton. In the car with Emil Marcucei Sr and Ely Cochran, Gilbert opened a door as the car moved and was thrown to the pavement by wind. He received cuts and bruises but no serious injuries. the Cochran Packard’s door hinge broke and rear fender dented from the wind.
Mr and Mrs Paul Smith Mr and Mrs Wayland Bennett of Argo and Mr and Mrs Dan Sack of Lanark attended last Thursday evening at the home of Mr and Mrs James Blair near Lanark for Mr Blair s birthday. Sunday guests in the Fred Dodd home were Mr and Mrs Frank Kahler and family of Morrison and Mr and Mrs John Hoy and family of Fulton.
The Chat-A-While club and families gathered at Herbert St. Ores home last Friday to honor the 75th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Storm. Prizes awarded included 500 prize to Mrs. Lyle Williams for ladies and Emil Brach for men with consolation to Williams. A gift was presented to the honorees. Refreshments were served by the hostess with assistance from Mrs. Ford Grimm and Mrs. Leonard Stage. Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. Chas Beck and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Corbin.
Thomson reports Mr and Mrs Wilford Cone and children Edgar Sadie Louise Lena and Maurice of Aztec New Mexico arrived Sunday to stay with their aunt Miss Mary Cone. Mr Cone is a war veteran living in New Mexico for health reasons. Also listed are Sunday dinner guests Mr and Mrs Harold Witt and sons of Clinton and afternoon callers Mr and Mrs Orrie Rutherford and son.
Charlotta A Kneale born October 24 1858 in St Louis Missouri died March 19 1940 at the Argo homestead aged 81 5 25 funeral services conducted Thursday at the Argo Methodist church with Rev J A Foard and Rev Farley officiating mourners include siblings nieces nephews and great relatives burial in Argo cemetery

Mr and Mrs Lloyd Smith hosted Easter Sunday at their home to honor the birthdays of their daughter Arlene on March 20 and Philip Brach on March 27. Attending were Mrs Sadie K Dunshee Mt Carroll Mr and Mrs Emil Brach and son Philip Mr and Mrs Edson Holland Mr and Mrs Robert Holl Miss Ida Knapp and Ed Knapp. Miss Thelma Schick was an overnight guest Tuesday at the home of Mr and Mrs Harold Witt.
Miss Martha J. Ashby died Wednesday at her Mt. Carroll home after a Sunday stroke while preparing dinner for relatives. A well known figure in Carroll County, she taught in local schools for 25 years and served as County Superintendent of Schools for several years. She was an aunt of Wayne Ashby of Thomson. funeral plans were not yet set.
The T N T club met at Mrs. Bess French’s home with 15 members and planned the year ahead. The Chat-A-While club will meet at Mrs. Herbert St Ores’s home on Friday afternoon. The 500 club met last Thursday at Mrs. Nelle Houghton’s home with prizes awarded to Mrs. Luvella Diehl, Mrs. Bess Carpenter, and Mrs. Amy Lewis.
The Argo 500 club meets today at the home of Mrs. Hortense Nipe. Members plan discussions and activities for the week ahead.

Luncheon committee: Mrs. Belle Carpenter Mrs. Clara Switzer and Mrs. Grace Tibbits. Mr and Mrs Fred Rockwood now live in Clinton where he works at the DuPont factory.
Elynor Stagg’s Knox College theme traces Thomson Illinois history from Bluffville’s demise after the 1864 Western Union railroad line to the town’s formation around a station. N. D. French of Vermont is named as Bluffville’s first settler, with his claim filed in 1837 and first crop in 1838, on rich loam land once a lake bed.
The Fulton four church choir group led by Everett Housenga performs the Easter Cantata Our Living Lord at Thomson High School gym this Friday at eight. The event, free will offering, invites Carroll county residents and neighboring towns to attend with ushers provided for seating.
