Soldier Ralph Curtin Killed in East Savanna Auto Crash

Private Ralph Curtin 31 died when his car skidded on a snow slick curve near the Walter Patton home in East Savanna on Route 42. The crash left the vehicle wrecked and the scene attended by authorities as a jury later ruled Curtin died from injuries after the loss of control and collision with a large tree. He served at the Ordnance Depot north of Savanna and was survived by his widow Opal Rettman, daughter, and several relatives. A funeral was held at Puller Funeral Home with burial at Hall Cemetery.
