Spelling Bee Plans in York Township Schools

Words for a spelling contest are set for York Township pupils with Prof Hemmer supporting the Consolidated School. The plan shifts from 10 weeks to about 7 issues to finish by early May, with weekly lists of top spellers appearing in the Review.

21st Carroll County Picnic Held in Los Angeles

The 21st Annual Carroll County Picnic was held at Lincoln Park in Los Angeles with about 150 former residents and guests attending. Several traveled up to 125 miles to attend, meeting old friends they seldom see except annually. Officers were elected for another year as Thomson residents and former attendees gathered as usual.

King Bahwell Chester King Weds Miss Gertrude Bahwell

King Bahwell Chester King of Clinton and Miss Gertrude Bahwell of Savannah united in marriage in Clinton last week. Chester, a Savanna native, is famed for track success in 1912 and 1918, hailed as Carroll county’s finest athlete. Mrs. C. A. Robison and daughter Maud of Marion, Iowa, visit the Hobison residence. The Mystic Worker party and dance at Fulton on St Patrick's evening drew many local residents.

Bake Sale by Intermediate Boys at Hardware Store

The Intermediate boys of the Christian Church will hold a bake sale Saturday forenoon at 10 o'clock at Bullous Hardware Store. Mrs. Glenn Swanson from Chicago arrived Sunday evening for a week’s visit at the A. W. Pape home. She will be accompanied home by Mr. Pape’s mother who plans to visit there for some time. Miss Ethel Miller married Sikka Vogel of Fulton on Saturday and they plan to live at Vultes.

Accident wounds elderly woman as others recover from illness

An elderly woman, struck by a Sunday evening mishap, is receiving care from Drs. Colehour and Sagner. Mrs. Anderson, well advanced in years, will face a hard recovery with friends saddened by the misfortune. She is cared for by her children at home. Mrs. Scheerer of McCausland, Iowa, visits her daughter Mrs. Della Williams, who suffers from grippe.

Demonstration of seed corn tests by ten local farmers is presented by Long and Sauer Sisters with remarks by County Adviser Roske.
