Milledgeville funeral services were held Tuesday for Mrs. Alice Fleming 77 wife of Thomas N Fleming with ties to the local church and clubs. Leonard Hodge 65 of Milledgeville died March 2 and was funeralized at South Elkhorn church. Peter DeMos 50, born in Greece, died in Savanna and was buried in Chicago after services at St Pauls Episcopal and Trinity Greek church. Surviving relatives include two daughters, three grandchildren, and a son.

Stephen G. Crippen 83 a native of Carroll county died Friday morning in his Cherokee Iowa home Funeral services and burial were held Sunday in Cherokee He was born February 11 1863 north of Lanark son of Rufus and Persis Crippen and had lived in Cherokee for 60 years

First Lieut. Donald McNutt aged 26, son of Mrs. George Schrock of Shannon, is identified as a bomber squadron member credited with a direct hit on one of 22 Japanese ships destroyed when a convoy bound for New Guinea was wiped out. He reports several bombing missions since arriving in the southwest Pacific 17 months ago after training at Shannon High School and North Manchester College. He joined the U S Air Forces in 1941, served in Hawaii, and moved through Australia en route to the Philippines.

A fire destroyed the Fred Neuman farm house on the Fred Neuman property tenanted by Mr and Mrs Ben Neuman. Origin unknown. Neuman was milking in the barn when neighbors spotted smoke. Mt Carroll rural fire department contained the blaze preventing further loss. Insurance covered the house and furniture. Train Kills Morrison Girl Driving Car
Miss Marie Workman sixteen died when the coupe she drove was struck by a fast Northwestern train at the Base street crossing in Morrison. The car failed to stop as the street slopes toward the tracks and was pushed, the engine moving slightly and the car wrecked. An inquest was held Tuesday and funeral services Wednesday at Carney funeral home with burial in Grove Hill Cemetery. Marie Luella Workman, born June 21 1926 in Clyde township Whiteside county, was the daughter of Lloyd and Edna Habben Workman. Survived by parents and grandparents Louis Workman, with many relatives.
