Our Weekly Letter From The Y. C. H. S.

The local high school boys faced Cordova last Friday night in a hard fought game. Thomson led 10 to 0 at halftime and finished 27 to 19 in Thomson's favor. The Senior play, "The Whole Town is Talking," has cast chosen for March performances. Six weeks exams were held last week. Mrs. Chesnutt and Miss Johnson were noted. An Oratorical Contest is set for March 29 at the C. H. S. Graphing in Algebra class soon.

McKee Family Leads Thomson Consolidated School Notes

Neil Leo and Edith McKee, former residents of the Thomson Consolidated School, enrolled and Hany McKee missed classes Wednesday due to illness. The Primary Class finished Young and Field's Literary Reader and has completed three other readers. first grade pupils Jean Rawns and Elmer Hans. Students with 90 or above include George Geary Verna Oakley Raymond Senneff William Artz Helen Oakley Elinor McKee Ul Oakley Sarah Geary and Walli Lertz Verna Oakley achieved the top average at 98.

In a March 5 1928 letter Rev C H Duvall describes a rusticated rest and plans to return to Thomson after a tonsillectomy at Freeport hospital. The operation occurred Tuesday morning and he remained hospitalized through Saturday afternoon before resuming duties later in the week.

Thomson Scouts Win Two Basketball Games at Mt Carroll

Scoutmaster E. P. Schaich led the Thomson troop to Mt Carroll for two basketball games. The Thomson subs won 5 to 4, then the Thomson regulars defeated Mt Carroll Troop No. 1 26 to 14. Lineup included Groharing, Melendy, Holland, J. Brown, and Martindale.

Joe Foltz Promoted to Kent Plant Manager in Ohio

Joe Foltz, longtime manager of Argo Fa condensary at Argo, will move to Kent, Ohio to lead one of the companys largest plants. He is a York township native, praised for his performance. Foltzs household goods depart March 16 as the Dollar Days sale proceeds. Ed Mest handles the selling and the sale is clerked by the First National Bank of Mt. Carroll.
