Thomson Ball Team Formed For 1924 Season
Local players met Saturday to organize a Thomson baseball team for the coming season. F E Lewis elected manager with Erve Martindale assisting and Ely Cochran treasurer. Lineup includes Dwight Bennett Lute Clyde Chas Leavens Dee Stores Parker and George Potter. O'Brien and Howard Leavens to pitch Wallace Ware catcher. Plan to raise about 200 dollars before season. 100 in the bank, funds to pay seven players five dollar checks and three battery members ten dollar checks once 165 dollars are cleared.

Obituary: W. C. Shadle Passes Away in Clinton Area
W. C. Shadle born September 12 1852 in Princeton Iowa died March 2 1924 at age 71. He lived around Clinton Iowa most of his life and was closely tied to the lakes and sloughs west of town. Survived by wife Mary Coltman children Goldy Joe McGinnis two others and many grandchildren. funeral Tuesday at Joe McGinnis home then burial at Dunshee cemetery with Rev. G A Prestage officiating.

Shipping Assoc Special Meeting In Thomson
About 75 members of the Thomson Shipping Association met at the Community High School to discuss by law changes. They debated charging non Farm Bureau members 2 cents per head more for shipping stock, then voted to continue as before for another fiscal year. A limestone shed project funded by Thomson Bank was referred to a special committee. Ed Porter was named shipping manager for the coming year.
