Paul K Blair Dies in Alaska Services on Friday
Paul K Blair 39 of Fairbanks Alaska formerly of Thomson died in an accident at Ellison Air Force Base Alaska. He was a heavy equipment operator who helped in construction of air force bases. Funeral services set for 7 PM Friday at Tomlinson funeral home Morrison burial in Upper York cemetery Argo. He was born June 18 1927 in Thomson son of Joseph and Rachael Blair. He served in the Air Force from 1945 to 1965 earning staff sergeant while serving in Germany Korea Japan Norway and Alaska. Survived by five sisters two brothers and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents and one infant sister.

Hillsdale Girl Scout Troops Visit Thomson Camp
Mr and Mrs Fred Ekstrand hosted Junior and Cadette groups from Hillsdale at their Thomson summer cottage. Thirty five girls with leaders and mothers attended a cookout and field trip aided by Keith Barkdoll Tampico High principal. Debra and Sandra Dillin were granddaughters of the Ekstrands. Graveside services for Sandra Kay St Ores infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Herbert St Ores Jr were held at Fulton cemetery with Rev Cornelius Hoekstra officiating. The infant was stillborn at Jane Lamb hospital Clinton. Grandparents listed from Elgin and Mr Carroll. Mrs James Dykema broke her ankle in her yard and was treated at Savanna Hospital then returned home the next day.

Nanette Curley of Geneseo has been selected for the Illinois All State Chorus to perform with the International Society of Music Educators in Interlochen Michigan Aug 20 26 She will sing first soprano and previously represented Geneseo High School in Peoria last January The 1966 Geneseo graduate is a Western Illinois University music major and granddaughter of Thomson residents.

Mrs Walter Shanafelt Dies At Morrison
Mrs Walter Shanafelt 78 of Morrison died Friday evening after a decade illness in Morrison Hospital. Funeral services were held at 1:30 pm Monday at the Presbyterian church with a 1:15 prayer service in the church parlors. Rev Paul DeBeer officiated and burial was in Lower York cemetery at Thomson. Ada Tousley born October 20 1888 in Indiana married Walter Shanafelt March 1 1916 at Salem Illinois. The couple farmed in Salem Fulton and Morrison before retiring 23 years ago to Unionville. She is survived by husband two sons Leroy of St Louis and Lyle of Clinton four grandchildren three brothers Clarence of Rock Falls Lloyd and Cecil of Thomson and one sister Miss Elsie of Thomson. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
