Thomson FFA earned second place in the American Heritage contest at the Illinois FFA convention in Champaign and received a plaque. The prize includes a paid trip for 30 members from eight chapters to eastern historical sites. Thomson will send five boys and advisor William Gengenbach, who also received a top safety award plaque later. Rev. William E. Kendall, 84, a retired Church of the Brethren minister from Milledgeville, died June 8 at Community General Hospital in Sterling after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Milledgeville Church of the Brethren with Rev. Glen Shively presiding, burial followed in Dutchtown Cemetery.
