Children Day Exercises at the M. E. Church

A large audience attended the annual Children’s Day program at the Methodist church Sunday evening. The church was beautified with roses peonies ferns and other flowers. The program included songs readings recitations and class exercises led by Rev. Duvall and various church members with children including Janet Carpenter Gilpin Stage Gladys Kauffman Lois Groharing Wilbur Stickel Lois Martindale Wayne Ashby Victor Brockill Lois Carroll Wayne Drake Ramona Lewis Jean Fuller and Martha Rush's class among participants. A collection was taken and benediction closed the event.

Packed House At Thomson Shipping Banquet

The Thomson Shipping Assoc members and families filled York Community High School Monday night for their eighth annual banquet and program. The men’s program held in the auditorium and the ladies’ in the gymnasium drew a large crowd, with Fred Kammiller of Fairmont Farms as speaker. Banquet followed, noted for ice cream and lemonade consumption, highlighting the group’s support of local farmers.

Village Board Proceedings Report May Adjourned Session

The Village Board met in ad journed session with President R J Fuller in the chair and members present. Bills approved totaling 829.82 included utilities siren labor and hardware. The board discussed safety at a dangerous street intersection near Lewis Motor Co and ordered traffic guides and caution signs. Removal of decayed trees on Main street was ordered and the Thom son Concert band authorized 7.56 per concert for street performances starting June 1. Adjourned.
