Charles Appel born November 7 1843 in Siebenhausen Hessen Darmstadt Germany came to the United States at age twelve settling in Carroll County. He married Caroline Tack December 27 1874 and lived in this state for over 57 years. He died May 30 1932 at age 88 after illness. Survived by widow four children two daughters in law and two sons in law two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral June 2 at St Pauls Lutheran Black Oak conducted by Reverend Braun and Reverend Fetterolf. The obituary notes his faith and service to the church and community.
