Arraign Two Men In Circuit Court
Two men indicted by the June grand jury were arraigned last week in circuit court before Judge Leon A. Zick. No plea was entered and both men got ten days to file preliminary motions. George Tudbat Jr. faces burglary and larceny for a gas station theft in Savannah March 6. Pussell Miller is charged with burglary and larceny for breaking into John Kistlemacher’s home June 16 and taking articles.

Hold Three Youths To Grand Jury On Burglary Charge
Three Sterling youths Raymond Hemming er 17 Clinton Lilly 17 and Ron ald Lilly 16 were bound over to the Carroll county grand jury on a burglary charge. They were accused of breaking into the Savanna Flying Service office at Stransdale Air Park near Savanna and allegedly took 300 dollars in cash and a guns collection. Whiteside county officers turned the youths over after they were found near a box containing 18 guns. Bonds of 500 dollars each were posted and the youths were released.

Youth Injured In Auto Truck Crash Friday Evening
Morrison-Wayne Smith of Prophetstown sustained extensive facial lacerations when his northbound car rear ended a light truck driven by Richard Dale at the Whiteside Carroll county line Route 78. Dale’s truck hit a telephone pole after being struck. Smith was taken to Morrison hospital. Dale was checked for chest injuries.

Annual Red Cross Meeting in Carroll County
The Carroll County Chapter of the American Red Cross held its annual meeting Monday July 12 in St. Pauls parish house Savanna with representatives from Mt. Carroll Milledgeville Chadwick and Savanna. Reports showed 127 in active service 65 veterans and 21 civilians aided. 354 pints of blood collected over three Bloodmobile visits. 27 volunteer nurses and 98 other workers. 221 hours donated in production clerical work and first aid tents used at the 4 H Roundup and Armed Services Days. Four First Aid classes awarded 106 Standard First Aid Certificates. Swimming pool manager Perry Rockwell renewed as Instructor. Fund Drive totaled 7566.54 with contributions from several towns. Charles L. Reese led the drive Mrs John Small elected secretary and Mrs B McCall reappointed treasurer.
