Escape Injury Sunday Night As Car Is Wrecked
Attorney Melvin Finer and Cecil King of Mt. Carroll narrowly escaped serious injury when the automobile driven by King left the road at the Zier corner north of Lanark Sunday night and overturned in a ditch. The car was demolished. Finer, initially thought to have only bruises, was hospitalized in Freeport where a broken collar bone was later confirmed. King sustained bruises and lacerations.

Two Former Carroll Residents Die Burials Reported
Two former Carroll county residents died in the past week and were laid to rest here. Frank Balcom aged 70 died Monday night in Winchester Illinois and his body was brought for burial with services at 2 PM at Christian Funeral Home in Mt Carroll and burial at Oak Hill cemetery. He is survived by a widow a son Burdette in Nebraska and a daughter Mrs Norbert Hutchens Winchester. Judge Harry Kramer aged 65 formerly of Arpo Fa died Sunday in Lexington Kentucky with funeral services held Wednesday in Mt Carroll and burial at Argo Fa cemetery. he is survived by two brothers and a sister.

Erma Schmidt of Savanna married Donald Elliot of Rock Island in a 4 o'clock Saturday ceremony with Dr. TY Griffith officiating. About 100 relatives attended the wedding and reception. Demo Chairman Objects To List Of Poll Officers
Walter Sherlock of Savanna as Carroll county Democratic central committee chairman filed a county court objection to the judges and clerks of election chosen by the Carroll board of supervisors in June. The objection says Sherlock, 38, submitted a list of Democratic election personnel for all 18 precincts that was ignored in the selection. County Judge C. M. Grove has not yet ruled.
