Mrs Anna Harney mother of Daniel Harney, a mail carrier on route 1, Thomson, died at her son's home in Thomson Tuesday evening. Funeral services were held at 1:30 at the house and 2:00 at the Methodist church with Rev. Nicholas officiating. Pallbearers named Hinds, Switzer, Rush, Witmer, Groharing and Orench. Interment at Lower York Cemetery.

Obituary for Anna Tarmey widow of Henry Harney
Anna Tarmey Harney, aged 83, died January 21, 1920, in Thomson, Illinois. Born December 10, 1846 in Dolby Ireland, she married Henry Harney in 1865 in New York City. Survived by sons Daniel of Thomson and James of Freeport, with other children dead. Widowed in 1887, she later joined her son Daniel in McConnells, Illinois, in 1899. A Methodist for ~30 years, she valued the Bible and prayer. Funeral attendees from Mt. Carroll, McConnell, and Wisconsin attended the service. the obituary recalls a life of faith, patience, and consolation in faith. The text includes the hymn Abide With Me.
