Mrs Sadie Brockill and Fred Smith married Saturday morning Dec 1 at the Mt Carroll parsonage by Rev Neamt. The couple, longtime York Sarmer and Thomson merchant, will reside in Thomson and run the Community Store. The event followed by a reception and drive to York for club and bank functions, with local leaders congratulating the couple.

Albertus Hin Richs aged 65 died December 1 on the farm near Morrison due to heart trouble. Funeral services were held Friday at Hopkins Church with burial in Hopkins Cemetery near Morrison.

Churches The lade sy dart Thursday with Mrs Otto Switzer. The officer elected for the ensuing year are as follows: president Mrs Roy Heitman, vice president Sylva Griswold, secretary and treasurer Wil Wid Griswold. The meeting will be held next Friday evening at Otto Switzer’s home. Also the annual business meeting of the church and Sunday school next Sunday morning at 10 o clock.
The Methodist Chu rch lists morning worship at 11 00 am and evening service at 7 30 pm with a call to follow Jesus. Four services weekly, watch party held Saturday in the church basement with games and refreshments. Ladies Aid Society meets next Wednesday at Mrs Sarah Grohating home Hazel Machel to lead Young People Sunday eve. all invited.
Members of the class met Saturday at Harr Carroll’s home for an annual party. Seven attendees listed include Harr Carroll Irene Swick Gilbert Ho land Ray WiNamara and others. Refreshments of ice cream cake were served before adjourning for the new year.
The January 13 program at Thomson Y C H S Gym features exhibits judging by Mrs. A J Rucker, cadets and ladies divisions, an address by Rev John Acheson of Princeton, music by Vivian Sack and others, and a film on the National Corn Husking contest. Exhibits open 10:30 a.m. with prizes for corn and canning items announced later. public invited.
York township citizens convened at the opera house to secure waivers for local banks to conform with state cash and reserve rules amid the financial strain. Thomson State Bank reported 100 percent waivers signed, Chadwick Farmers State Bank and Savanna First National Bank also aided, with Chadwick and Thomson now open for business. A committee led by Bayard BR. Lewis coordinated calls to depositors, and by Tuesday all waivers were signed. The community praised the bank’s trusted stability as the Wellington Review notes the successful effort and an Oyster Supper was held in thanks to bank staff and depositors.
Mrs Sarah Groharing hosted her annual New Year's Day reunion at her home inviting kin and relatives. A large gathering enjoyed a dinner supervised by Mrs Groharing followed by social time with many attendees including Mr and Mrs Robert Groharing Prudence Brace Mrs Mike Tucker Kathryn Mary Louige and others.
Margaret Louise Blair three months old daughter of Mr and Mrs Joe Blair died at 1130 Tuesday from double pneumonia Funeral services scheduled for Thursday at the home with Rev Leitner officiating and hymns Under His Wings and Suffer the Children to Come Pallbearers Blanche Seim Evelyn Pessman Alta Porter and Ruth Cooper Survivors include the parents five sisters and three brothers Interment in Upper York cemetery
Securing of the right of way for route 171 from Thomson to route 78 Argo-Fa is progressing. Most work is completed at Thomson and the committee is now in Argo-Fa territory. Work will begin in spring, and the paved route to York Township will be a big improvement.
Frank Merit Rice a York born resident died at home after illness. He lived in Thomson and Sterling before returning here to carpentry work. Survived by widow Helen, ten children and numerous relatives. funeral held Tuesday with burial locally.
Annabelle Dyson, 11 months old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmont Dyson of Morrison, died Sunday morning of pneumonia at home in Clyde township. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 3, from the Charles Connor home in Clyde, with Rev. Corvin of the Fulton Presbyterian church officiating. Attendants and out of town relatives attended the funeral in New York cemetery. Relatives from Morrison and nearby towns were listed among mourners.
The Alumni association collected 25 at a Friday evening dance held at the opera house. Music was provided by Geisinger’s orchestra. Alumni members plan more such enjoyable events in the near future.
A 1932 cemetery burial list for Lower York Cemetery records 38 interments. Notable entries include John Morgan born January 9 and John Shoemaker born February 25, with others named Gilbert Robertson, Robert Morgan, and Laura Miller. Dates span January to December with multiple infants and children among the deceased.
Mrs Blanche Martindale attended her father's funeral in Pearl City. The 74 year old B F Albright was survived by five children, a half brother, four brothers and two sisters. Services were at Pike Brethren Church in Pearl City with grandsons as pallbearers. Interment followed at Yetlow Creek cemetery in Pearl City.
Mr and Mrs Glen Demaree attended the sister's funeral in Byron Illinois today. The deceased is described as a member of the Champion family from Syren, with friends and relatives from nearby areas attending. The service details appear incomplete in the report.
