Lincoln Day Dinner Tickets On Sale In Carroll County

Tickets for Carroll county s first Lincoln Day dinner go on sale late this week through the Young Republicans and county Republican ladies division. Melvin Finer reports plans practically finished with Swiss steak as main dish and a Wheaton attorney Charles Hadley as the main speaker. Nine high school band members will provide music as the gym is lit by candles for the event.

Carroll County Tuberculosis Seal Sale Total $579.62

At a Carroll County tuberculosis association meeting the seal sale chairman reported a total Christmas seal sale of 579.62 with 343.81 from schools and 205 from mail orders. The report lists each school and area contributions. The group plans to fund a tuberculin testing program for seniors at Carroll County high schools with x ray pictures for positive reactors, starting later this school year.

A Chicago area storm that dumped heavy snow and halted travel missed Carroll county and the northwest portion of the state. Tuesday night brought wintry blasts with more snow predicted, while icy roads and closures affected traffic and schools in the Chicago area and central Illinois.

Immunization Survey Of County School Children

Illinois public health sponsors a county immunization survey to determine how many children have had contagious diseases and whether they have received immunization. Schools provide blanks for each child to record past diseases, vaccinations, dates, and family doctor, plus an optional guardian consent form for diphtheria smallpox and typhoid vaccines. Participation is voluntary to aid disease control.

Leaf River defeated Shannon varsity 37 to 7 and the reserves 18 to 2 on Saturday night. Motter led Leaf River with seven field goals and a free throw while Brinkmeier Bush and Gertamy led Shannon. Tax Bills Delayed In County 1938 Taxes May Be Mailed By May
