Alden Sarem reported on the supervisor's meeting, a County ASC representative discussed colored soil maps, and a speakers committee was appointed to line up presentations. John K. Morris Chadwick will be invited to discuss proposed constitutional changes.
Elwin Rice aged 54 of Thomson was ticketed by Illinois state police for driving too fast for conditions after a one car crash on the Chadwick black top half a mile east of Illinois. His car left the road and struck three trees causing about 500 dollars in damage. He was not injured.
John Lamoreux, 21, of Lanark, Illinois, was charged by state police with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after a two car crash at the junction of Illinois 84 and U.S. 30 around noon Saturday.
A vehicle driven by Marvin Meyer was stopped at a sign when Lamoreux' car rear ended it. Meyer reported about 200 dollars in damage to his auto while Lamoreux's car sustained roughly 250 dollars in damage.
Sharon Law, Wayne Wabbena, Craig Nefstead and Alice Flack earned state awards for 1968 4-H projects. Law and Nefstead head to Chicago for congress with scholarships and honors, Wabbena earned a sponsored trip, Flack won a $50 bond. All are active in local fairs and civic programs through Carroll and Shannon communities.
