Thomson Trojans Drop Two In Week Action
The Thomson Trojans football team lost two straight games this week. They were edged by Preston 47 to 5 after leading 26 to 20 at halftime, with Larry Hook scoring 15. On Tuesday Lanark Beavers won 60 to 52 as Wally Holland led Thomson with 14 points. Frosh-Soph also fell 51 to 42 at Lanark after a 70 to 28 win over Preston JV. Ronnie Dykstra led with 14 points. The teams head to Lanark Friday for a non conference game.

Christmas Operetta Draws Big Crowd at Thompson Grade School
The Thompson Grade School Christmas operetta Merry Christmas Mr Snowman drew a large Monday night audience. Mrs Marjorie Veith 49 of Mt Carroll died Tuesday night at home after a long illness. A former Mt Carroll grade school teacher, she had lived in Mt Carroll since 1937 and is survived by her husband Thomas A and children Richard and Mary Elizabeth, plus her mother Alma Tink and sister Mrs Robert Patchen. Services set for Friday at Frank Funeral Home with Oak Hill Cemetery burial.

Mrs. Jacob Eissens Dies Suddenly in Fulton
Mrs. Jacob Pissens aged 70 of Fulton died suddenly Saturday afternoon at a Fulton physician's office. Funeral services were held Monday at Spring Valley Reformed Church with a family prayer service prior. Burial was in Fulton cemetery. Survivors include husband, three daughters, a son, 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The Eisens farmed in York Township before moving to Fulton in 1945.

Laura Jurgenson aged 84 of Thomson died at Community General Hospital Sterling shortly after admission last Thursday. She lived in the Thomson area most of her life and is survived by three sons Glenn Gammon Clinton William Gammon Salem and Robert Brummon Chicago two daughters Lola Arold Harvey Iowa and Mrs Charles Huddleston Merian Iowa six grandchildren and 150 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1951 and one grandchild.
