Register Booth Reveals Distance of Melon Day Attendees
A Melon Day register booth gathered 915 total registrations from many towns and states. The list shows towns with counts from Fenton eight to Clinton Town four hundred eleven, including Chicago three and Ames outside Iowa with thirty five. Misses Helen and Dorothy Gunn of DeKalb joined the notes, with Dorothy planning to live with the carpenters and attend Thomson High School next season.

Melon Day and Home Coming Debriefed After Rainy Turnout
Thomsen’s fourth annual Melon Day and Home Coming ended with higher attractions and better organization than last year, yet receipts and attendance lagged. Weather kept many away, but crowds enjoyed melons, ball games, bands, a noon meal by the Christian ladies, and an afternoon program led by Rev Schaich. Congressman Johnson spoke, a dance followed the street band, and the day closed with overall praise for better planning and entertainment than four years prior.

Mt Carrol Boy Scouts with Scout Master Prof Warnes camped at Riverview. Arthur Pap to take a vacation from Ebner duties next week after a big day of the year.
