Village chlorination ends boil water advisory in Thomson
Officials say Thomson’s water supply is now safe after chlorination to destroy bacteria. Earlier a boil water warning was issued due to high bacteria counts in tests. State health officials say the situation does not pose an epidemic. Equipment to inject chlorine was installed Tuesday night and hydrants flushed to circulate treated water. Storage tank cleaning is planned Saturday with no shutoff. A larger chlorine dose was used to purify the system and reduce odor and taste as supplies are pumped directly into mains.
