Carroll County 4 H'ers staged a space age fashion show at Naaman Diehl Auditorium on July 30 1969. Astro models wowed a large crowd as delegates were chosen for the State Fair with alternates named and two clothing construction exhibits allotted. The event crowned Diane Law Karen Geisz Leah Lyon and Sharon Hertel as state fair delegates with alternates Lori Coats Julie Ritter Leanne Handel and Darlene Wubbean. the day also featured numerous sewing and knitting classes and a moon visitor moment.

Father of Mrs Gengenbach Dies in Idaho on Vacation
Lloyd A. Oosterryk, 64, Morrison farmer and father of Mrs. William Gengenbach of Argo Fay, died unexpectedly last Tuesday in Grand View Idaho while on vacation. Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at Fulton First Christian Reformed Church with Rev. John Green officiating. Burial followed in Morrison cemetery. He married Etta Belima on February 13 1935 in Fulton and farmed in Union Grove township.

Thomson Village Board Tightens U turn Ban and Raises Salary
The Thomson Village Board in regular session approved the minutes and bills, reported funds across general, waterworks, motor fuel, and York Sanitary districts, and enacted a $21 960 tax levy. It raised the sales tax to one percent, banned U turns between Route 841 and Market Street, and increased Village Marshall Milfred Thompson’s salary from 435 to 485 monthly, effective September 1.

Students to Buy PE Uniforms for Thomson Schools
Thomson School Board approves mandatory PE uniforms for grades 7-12 for next year. Girls wear a one piece wash and wear uniform priced at 5 dollars 75 cents. Boys wear two uniforms a purple and a gold set costing 4 dollars 50 cents in total. Uniforms will include personalization pens and are sold at school cost. The plan includes buy back resale and possible exchanges to aid families.

Thomson Youth Escape Injuries
Two Thomson youths escaped serious injuries in separate one car accidents on Route 84 north of Savanna and south of Savanna. Arlyn Holesinger 18 of Argo Fay sustained minor injuries after a northbound vehicle forced him off the road. Richard Buckley 22 of Thomson suffered cuts and bruises when his car clipped a deer and demolished the vehicle and a utility pole. Buckley was treated and dismissed at Savanna City Hospital. State police investigated both incidents.

Thomson's Senior League team fell 13 to 1 to Morrison on July 31 ending an 10 and 5 season. Morrison hitters Tom Bevereth and Don Lettermann led with 4 for 5 while Farrell pitched a four hitter. Earlier Thomson beat Savanna 7 0 on July 30 as Robinson brothers and Tim Halfman supplied key hits and Jim Falls struck out ten.

Grandson of Former Resident Dies in Belvidere
Funeral services for Mark Allen Knutsen nine, son of Raymond and RK Knutsen, will be held Friday in Belvidere. He died Tuesday after a monthlong illness at Rockford Memorial Hospital. He is the grandson of Mrs. Raymond Knutsen of Stockton and grandnephew of Mrs. Lloyd Smith of Thomson, with four sisters and three brothers surviving.
