Plans Set for Carroll County 4-H Achievement Day Program

Carroll County prepares for the annual Achievement Day Friday at Chadwick High School with 4-H clubs. Morning judging by 30 leaders covers clothing, foods, room improvements, and party-a-month projects. Carroll County Home Bureau plans its second annual meeting at 1 30 p m on Tuesday in the First Baptist church Mt Carroll. Rahn leads Carroll County DHIA in July milk and fat

R Rahn headed Carroll County DHIA in July with 34.6 pounds of butterfat and 1079 pounds of milk per cow. The best herd was the Carroll and French group of 26 registered Holsteins with 33.9 pounds fat and 414 pounds milk. five cows were dry. Five highest producing cows included Stransdale No. 1 and Robert Schubert, with fat and milk totals. Association average was 29.4 pounds fat. Stransdale No. 2 yielded 2190 pounds milk with 771 pounds fat from 71 dry cows across 24 herds. Six unprofitable cows were sold.

Leo Halfman Burned As Gas Tank Explodes

Savanna Leo Halfman a 38 year old man was treated at Savanna City hospital for third degree burns on his right leg after the gas tank of his 1981 model A Ford exploded while he moved the car at 1 am Sunday. He had returned home seven miles south of Savanna when the engine backfired igniting the fuel. The car was destroyed and halfman was to remain in hospital for the week.

Washington wildfowl hunting rules announced by Secretary Kiug as changes from last year apply to central and eastern regions. Illinois Indiana Wisconsin keep nine rules including 0 day or 12 day limits and 4 to 8 birds possession, with slight shooting hour changes. Daily take includes ducks geese coot rails gallinules and many species from sunrise to a hour before sunset, with dove and pigeon limits similar. Opening day limits allow hunting before sunrise. dove season runs Sept 30 to Sept 30 and duck season from Sept 7 to Nov 27.

Rural Oath Council Plans August Meeting Postponed

Rural Youth Council members met August 2 to plan the next session. The rural meeting is now postponed to August 16 at 1 o clock in the Purm Bureau Hall Sit Careell. A county tour and entertainment of games follow the tour with a beerball gate against Ogle County Bolo High School Palo at 1:30 C. Y. The outcome will decide if Carroll County enters the State Tournament of Rural Youth Baseball Teams after a string of wins.
