Former Thomson Lady Dies At Nebraska Home
Mrs. Hal Stines Clara Rose, born near Thomson Illinois March 5 1858, died July 15 1926 at Fairmont Nebraska. She married Hal Percy Stines June 30 1879 and helped develop the western resources. Survived by husband two sons Fletcher Herbert and Hal Percy and four grandchildren, with four daughters named among the deceased. Funeral at home July 16 conducted by Rev V C Wright of the Methodist church. interment in Fairmont cemetery.

Visit to Famous Outlaw Store in Winner South Dakota
C W Root of Root Land Co and Otto Rocktohr of First National Bank recently completed a nine day motor trip covering 2300 miles through western Iowa Minnesota South Dakota and Nebraska. They praised high yields in Iowa west of Mason City and southern Minnesota with smelt grain in east South Dakota short but west South Dakota yielding well on cheaper lands. Corn is late but promising. The Winner store, run by a former cowboy, employs over a hundred clerks and operates on cash and barter. it is described as the largest store in the world for its region, serving hundreds of miles around. Clinton Herald clipping notes 52 clerks once worked there and the store never closes, located at the railroad end where it ships westward.
