York Township School Levies Cut Across Districts
York township levies for the school districts were reduced by 6500 compared with last year, per figures sent to Mt Carroll by Township Treasurer Mary Cone. Total levies drop from 27350 to 20850 with District 74 cutting 3000 to 5000, District 210 down from 13000 to 11000, and districts 79 and 80 remaining at 500.

Thomson friends received word of the marriage of Dwight Bennett to Alma Hamilton in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania on Saturday July 30. Dwight grew up in the Argo-Fa area and played on Thomson’s ball team under Oscar Graham Frank Lewis and Irve Martindale. He graduated from Mt Carroll High School and the University of Illinois. His mother Mrs Mary Bennett is matron at the Caroline Mark Home at Mt Carroll.

Dee Gleason Injured in Washington Auto Crash
Mrs. Louella Gleason learned her son Dee Gleason in the naval service at Anabaosa was injured in an automobile accident in Washington D C. Dee and another sailor were in the car when the crash occurred. Details were scarce as Dee could not write much. He is progressing satisfactorily but remains in the hospital for some time. The auto mobile was completely demolished.

A church board meeting will follow Sunday services with all members expected. Four youth will perform an instrumental number at Bible school. Twelve members of the ladies aid souily met in the church basement on Wednesday afternoon. The social committee served ice cream with blueberries and orange velvet cake. The aid plans to meet again next Wednesday at the same location. Preaching at 9:30 am and Sunday school at 10:30 am. On Monday evening the C H S board reappointed Frank Rush as janitor at 60 dollars per month for nine months, down from 75 dollars for twelve months. Rush has served as janitor for the past six or seven years.
