Trout Ponds at Coleta Open April 23
Coleta Trout Ponds open at 6 am Saturday April 23 for fishing. Located a mile west and half a mile south of Coleta the ponds have 15000 rainbow trout and 1100 brown trout stocked by the state. An Illinois fishing license is required at the state operated ponds.

College Students In Court After Alleged Beer Party
Thirteen Shimer College students arrested Saturday during a picnic and beer party in a city park appeared in circuit court at Mt Carroll. David Noble, 23, of Chicago, jailed on charges of battery resisting and obstructing a police officer and use of force in resisting arrest on a $3,100 bond. Mike Roach, 24, of Grandview, Illinois, released on bond after booking. Complaints signed by Carroll County Deputy Sheriff Guy Neuschweer. Charges of possession of beer as minors filed against 12 students.

Savanna Driver Convicted on Liquor Charges
David Ruten, 19, Savanna, was fined 150 in Carroll county circuit court after pleading innocent on two counts of delivering liquor to minors and a minor possession charge. He was convicted in a bench trial before Magistrate James M Thorp. A charge of permitting an unauthorized person to drive his car was dropped. The case stems from a December 2 auto accident that killed 15 year old Janet G Zeryp of Savanna. Ruten was arrested December 13.
