D F Millikan Gains Wide Reputation in Lyndon Maple Syrup
In Lyndon Illinois sugar maple woods march brings heavy sap runs. D F Millikan, an early settler and longtime syrup maker, built a family tradition from Berkshire county to Whiteside county. His son Frederick W Millikan carried on, using improved equipment like an overhead tank and automatic feeder, with about 1300 trees on a 2000-tree stand. The 1936 season began as Dispatchmen visited his plant, and weather will determine how long the harvest lasts.
