Turney of Savanna Weds Hazel Groharing in Lanark

Tur noy of Savanna and Miss Hazel Groharing were married Saturday evening at Rev. Sword’s home in Lanark with a single ring ceremony. Attendants were Miss Gladys Brock and William Dimm. Bride wore white georgette. attendant wore old rose georgette. A wedding dinner followed Sunday at the bride’s parents’ home. Mrs. Turney, longtime Savanna resident, attended Savanna schools and Keen Grocery. Turney, son of Clinton residents, is a mechanic in Chestnut Park. They now reside in a furnished home in Chestnut Park. The bride is a granddaughter of Mrs. Lucinda Groharing and niece of local residents. Also listed: Birth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Isenhart on Wednesday, October 2.

Mrs Fred Nipe of Argofawl entertained the 500 club at her home Thursday afternoon Oct 3. Ladies passed the afternoon by playing cards. Modern Woodmen Protests New Rates in County Meeting

Fred Bastain of Fulton and T. E. Irwin of Clinton arrived to address Woodmen members here and in Mt. Carroll about rate increases. They accuse leaders of pushing out older members, risking the organization’s future as memberships decline from over 100 to 36 in No. 8.
