Reverend W J Day, Winthrop's longtime pastor, served nearly forty five years and never missed a Sunday in the pulpit except when sick less than ten times, with a recent five Sunday absence due to illness.
A town vote approved funds to letter the Winthrop name on two sides of the water tower at Cottage Hill. The project costs about $269 and is backed by the Board of Trade the Water Department and several prominent townspeople to advertise the town.
Citizens of Winthrop and property owners need not worry about missing 1929 tax bills. Delays came from the new excise motor tax, but clerks have caught up and bills are now ready to be mailed this week.
At the request of the Massachusetts Department of Public Works the Board of Selectmen appointed Wm. C. Ham Howard Gilson John W. Anthony Bonzagni Frank W. Tucker and Timothy J.
