Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie M. Hetherington widow of Dr Gilbert E. Hetherington of Somerville were held Wednesday at 2 pm with Rev Ray O Meserve officiating. Born July 25 1862 at Norridgewock Maine she later lived with her son T Gilbert Hetherington at 5 Bellevue Terrace.
Harriet Maud Day of 350 Winthrop Street hosts an opening tea and preview at the Copley Society Gallery 296 Commonwealth Avenue Boston near Massachusetts Avenue from 2 to 5 pm on Monday September 30. Gallery hours run weekdays 10 am to 4 pm October 1–11 and Saturdays 10 am to 6 pm. Sunday shows are not held. Assistants pouring at the preview include Mrs Boudreau, Mrs Dolloff, Mrs Skinner, Mrs Sisler, Mrs Thomas Fielding, and Mrs Joseph Redshaw of Lynn.
An enthusiastic group met at the town hall Tuesday night to discuss forming a local camera club. About thirty five citizens expressed their desire to join the club though many attended the Legion parade in Boston.
Five articles comprise the warrant for a special town meeting at the Junior High School this Monday evening. One article seeks a committee to study purchasing leasing or building a municipal lighting plant. The push for a town electric plant appears limited with no broad public demand and opponents warn such a move could cost over a million dollars.
The Board of Registrars announces a recount today in the Democratic Senate race at the request of Joseph A Melley Chelsea Representative and candidate for Senator who lost the district by a margin of 73 votes.
Winthrop Council Knights of Columbus sponsor Friday gala at Elks Hall featuring high grade vaudeville entertainment and a presentation of a national football picture. Henry McCarthy MIT athletic coach acts as master of ceremonies.
