Selectmen Hold Three Meetings On Winthrop Transport Problem
The Board of Selectmen held a trio of public meetings on Winthrop transportation. About 400 attended Shirley Street School and 350 at Highlands School as speakers including town officials and Mr Samuel Ullmer addressed residents. The Transportation Committee sent townwide findings after two years of study.

Mrs Harber Hosts Lawn Party For American Legion Auxiliary
Mrs. Wm. G. Harber of 305 Winthrop street opened her lawn and home on September 13 for a bridge and whist gathering. A large American Legion Auxiliary group and friends enjoyed a sunny afternoon of cards with a blanket and door prize won by Agnes Murphy and Etta Carter. Prizes were donated by Swett's Market Ideal Market Vesco Co Belcher Florist and Auxiliary members. Hostess and Ruth Walsh served a fall colored collation. The event was praised as the best social affair of the summer by attendees.

Far Reaching Vote On Winthrop Transit Plan Is Set
Town meeting in Winthrop gym discusses accepting an Act to buy the Winthrop branch of the Boston Revere Beach and Lynn Railroad by the Boston Elevated Railway. Proposal would gauge the line to Maverick Station with 15 cent fares and direct service into the Elevated system. Two warrants include regular appropriations and a transportation article detailing the report, acceptance, partial payment to the railroad, and bus operation rules.
